Lighting Development TD

Position Summary:

The Lighting Development TD works closely with Lighting Supervisors to design, implement, and support lighting workflows for the Department’s feature film pipeline along with lighting development for the Studio at large. Problem investigation and resolution skills are a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Help design, implement, and support the various toolsets, infrastructure, systems, standards, and workflows that make up the Rhythm & Hues lighting pipeline.
  • Lead technical requests from Lighting Supervisors from concept to completion.
  • Debug global lighting technical problems.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent problem investigation and resolution skills.
  • Linux/UNIX proficiency (2 years of production experience or equivalent technical experience).
  • Well versed in one or more high-level scripting languages (Python/Perl preferred).
  • Familiarity with computer graphics concepts and techniques.
  • Able to prioritize and juggle multiple requests.
  • Willingness to work in a proprietary environment.
  • Familiarity with computer graphics application software (Maya, Houdini, Shake, etc).

Desired Skills:

  • Lighting experience
  • Degree in Computer Science
  • Python proficiency
  • Scripting experience in a 3D package

Senior Texture Artist

Position Summary:

Must be capable of a variety of texture styles from photo realistic to painterly for a wide range of commercial, feature and episodic television projects. The ideal candidate will be critical with his or her own work, must follow reference material exactly, must be organized and have the ability to problem solve, be creative, and work within a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high quality digital texture files to lighters and collaborate in testing
  • Collaborate and bring creativity to a team of artists, lighters and modelers
  • Meet schedules and artistic guidelines under deadline
  • Duplicate the reference material and concept art onto your texture maps
  • Adhere to any specifics a job defines, i.e. call times etc.
  • Innovate, problem solve, and maintain an efficient, streamlined workflow.
  • Possess a full understanding of map properties in relation to surfaces and lighting

Required Skills:

  • --Minimum of 4 years of prior feature film visual effects experience required--
  • --Organic texture experience required--
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Experience with Mudbox, ZBrush, BodyPaint and Photoshop
  • Ability to create high quality texture maps, including supporting maps (specular, displacement, etc).
  • Knowledge of 3D design parameters with an understanding of lighting and modeling
  • Excellent artistic and painting skills, including in-depth understanding of color theory and application
  • Strong knowledge of 3D animation and interactive entertainment forms
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to rapidly learn and assimilate new technologies
  • Demonstrate ability to work with a high degree of self-direction
  • Be self-managed and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrate a history of consistent high-end aesthetic and technical execution
