Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled 3D artist to work on Blizzard Entertainment’s next epic game! The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing, modeling, and texturing a diverse visual range of in game, real time environments, props, and characters.  This person also has a solid grasp of form, color, and lighting for both 2D and 3D art assets to help bring our amazing universe to life. The 3d artist must also have a skill in another art task as well (illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, or concept drawing). 






3D ARTIST


REQUIREMENTS


  • A minimum of 3 years’ of experience in game development modeling, and texturing 3D assets using 3DS Max and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
  • An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling
  • Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps of different material types
  • Understanding of the Warcraft visual style, and a passion to push it to the next level
  • Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude
  • A passion for video games
  • Have shipped AAA PC, or console titles, as a 3D environment or character artist


PLUSES

  • Experience with Mudbox, ZBrush, (or equivalent modeling programs)
  • Experience with the creation of next-gen shaders, and materials
  • Strong foundation in the traditional arts including, but not limited to, figure drawing, and environmental and / or architectural illustration

SENIOR ANIMATOR

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain animations for real time game assets.
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve the animation pipeline.
  • Ensure timely completion of animation commitments at the desired quality bar.
  • Serve as an active partner with leads to drive and evangelize the artistic vision of the game.
  • Review and approve animation assets for aesthetic and technical accuracy.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 5 years’ of experience in game development animating characters using Maya or equivalent 3D program
  • Exceptional skill in animating the human bipedal figure, as well as other organic forms
  • Experience working with a lead in developing a unique and cohesive animation style
  • A thorough understanding of animation pipelines and the processes involved from the conceptual phase to implementation
  • Able to effectively collaborate with game designers and programmers
  • Self-motivation, good communication skills, and a great team-player attitude
  • A passion for video games
  • Have shipped AAA PC or console titles in a senior animator position
  • A passion for stylized forms of animation

LEAD GAME DESIGNER

3D CHARACTER ANIMATOR



Norman McLaren famously said, “Animation is not the art of drawings that move but the art of movements that are drawn.”  Our Character Animators readily agree.  In Overwatch movement isn’t just an indication of gameplay it also communicates a character’s purpose, thoughts, and emotions. Consider the dynamic and energetic movement of Tracer as she blinks across the battlefield, or Torbjörn’s  gruff mutterings as he pounds away at the red hot steel of his latest creation. Despite wildly different personalities, each character and their story are brought to life through the imagination and skills of a talented animator.

Your skills as an artist, technician, and gamer will drive you forward into the thick of development. Exceptional understanding of traditional and 3D animation techniques will drive the creative engine that will bring a bevy of new heroes, villains, and creatures to life. FX ARTIST


As a player, there’s nothing like experiencing visceral heart pounding combat for the first time. From distinctive flash of light as Tracer blinks out of view, to the rolling smoke that encases Reaper right before he unleashes hell upon his foes… These will be the moments that etched into the memory of the next generation of Blizzard fans, and they will be created by a VFX artist like you!

As a VFX artist on Overwatch, you'll use your extensive experience working with 3D packages and in-game FX systems to create a wide range of visual effects for both characters and environments. An understanding of how good gameplay marries with exceptional visuals will come in handy when you jam with designers and artists to develop exciting new heroes that will pop off the screen thanks to your mastery in creating the textures and geometry needed for stylized VFX.
