Responsibilities:
The 2D/3D Animator will be working with the Art Director and Producer, creating art assets that drive the visual identity and user interface of the game. This 2D/3D Animator will also create final in-game artwork and placeholder artwork as needed by engineering. This position will also work with web and marketing teams to create game-related artwork. The 2D/3D Animator will spend most of their time designing and modeling 3D objects but is flexible enough to handle 2D art, flash animation, icons, advertising, web ready art, etcetera.
Required Skills:
Quick sketching and storyboarding experience
Ability to communicate visually, and to identify and define visual design issues and solutions
Excellent design skills, including the effective use of color, form, lighting and composition
5+ years experience in games development (shipped titles a plus!)
A passion for games, virtual worlds, and social networking
Clear understanding of 3D lighting, and its effect on texture, bump, displacement mapping results.
Expert knowledge of UV-mapping techniques
3D animation samples desirable but not required
Excellent Photoshop skills (CS3-4) compositing, texture painting, tiling, retouch, filtering, scripting
Experience in Flash including creating optimized movies, buttons, and animation
3-4 years of experience with Maya 8.5+
3D Modeler
Expert modeler and texture artist with a strong artistic eye.
Extensive knowledge of 3D Studio Max including scripting.
Working knowledge of 3D effects and particle systems.
Extensive experience with xml.
Flash experience a plus.
Experience writing code in C++, C#, or AS3 preferred.
Fluent in the aesthetics of vehicles, structures and environments for video games.
Experienced with file management software used in version control of game assets.
Works and meets deadlines with minimal supervision.
Creative thinker able to resolve technical challenges.
Exceptionally well-organized and able to juggle multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
Optimizes workflow and game assets.
Acts as a bridge between software engineers and artists working on the game.
Integrates art assets into the game via xml files to be accessed by software engineers and game designers.
Exceptional troubleshooting skills and patience.
Defines the art production pipeline and tool set.
Maintains, teaches and documents the art production workflow.
