About R&H Apprentice Program

R&H Apprentice Programs provide the opportunity to gain valuable production experience while working with talented and dedicated professionals. It is designed for digital artists who are suitable for entry level positions.
  • Ideal candidates are recent graduates.
  • Apprenticeships run between 8 to 10 weeks in duration.
  • Work with the best artists and supervisors through formal classroom instruction and informal collaboration.
  • Be trained in R&H proprietary software and other in-house production tools.
  • Artists will be paid a stipend while participating in the apprenticeship.
While some participants may be considered for employment after evaluation, participation in the R&H Apprentice Program does not guarantee employment within the company.


Lighter Apprentice Program

Training begins at Hyderabad on 30-May-2011
Last date for application 20-May-2011

Position Summary

Lighters will work on projects of varying visual style, photo -real or non-photo-realistic looks. You will have a broad range of responsibilities, including placing lights (for sequence as well as scene lighting), defining material properties, painting textures, managing renders and compositing (of CG elements).

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Strong traditional art skills (drawing, painting, or sculpture, etc.).
  • Knowledge/exp. in Photography & color theory.
  • Excellent English communication skills (including written, verbal and report generating skills).
  • Experience working in the Film/entertainment industry.
  • Familiarity with UNIX / Linux.

Regarding demo reels

  • Reel should demonstrate strong sense of composition, light and color. A fine art portfolio can also be added.
  • Still frames that demonstrate a solid understanding of how to set a mood using various types of contrast (especially value, color and depth of field) within a highly photo-realistic style.
  • Sample of mood boards (hand painted).
  • Image showcasing your ability to integrate a CG object into a live-action plate.

  











3D Matchmover / Camera Tracker

Training begins at Hyderabad on 4-Jul-2011

Position Summary

Rhythm & Hues Studios India is seeking 3D Matchmovers/Camera Trackers to perform camera tracking. The Matchmover's major task is to meticulously and accurately animate gross camera motion and parameters to match to live action camera movement. The Matchmover must also use deformation tools to conform 3D models to fit specific object deformation in the photography.

Responsibilities

  • Work with both animators and modeling TD's to insure accurate camera track
  • Analyze and understand basic principles of 3D graphics
  • Accurately record, use and analyze data from production supervisors
  • Study linear perspective and other properties of 3D space
  • Perform and deliver accurate match move data on schedule
  • Understand the properties of camera parameters such as focus and focal length
  • Problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned tasks
  • Use and understand 3D modeling and deformation tools
  • Understand local coordinate versus world coordinate space and 3D hierarchies
  • Give input to software design tools and interface to improve throughput
  • Understand 3D concepts such as matrices, rotations, translations, scale, and gimbal lock
  • Accurately reconstruct 3D geometry based on photographs
  • Required Skills and Experience

    • Must have Analytical/Problem solving skills and Technical Mindset.
    • Must have the ability to Troubleshoot.
    • Experience with any 3D Animation Software.
    • Knowledge of CAD/CAM/Architectural software is a plus.
    • Capable of working in a team environment.
    • Good verbal and written communication is a plus.

BG Prep / Rotoscopy

Training begins at Mumbai on 4-Jul-2011

Position Summary

A digital rotoscope artist is responsible for creating extremely detailed digital mattes using 2D image processing and drawing tools. These mattes are used for wire removals, rig removals, background fixes, and blue screen extractions.
Considered an entry level position with potential for growth into Digital Artist: Compositor position.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience with Matador, Illusion, Combustion, Shake, Chalice, Elastic Reality and/or any high end compositing applications.
  • UNIX skills (preferably Linux).
  • Excellent English communication skills (including written, verbal and report generating skills).
  • Degree in Fine Arts in graphic design, animation, drawing, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in the Film/entertainment industry.
  • Freshers with a burning desire to excel in this field may also apply.
