PIPELINE DEVELOPER
Method Studios is currently in search of a Pipeline Developer to join the Software team. We’re looking for a variety of skills to complement the existing team, ranging from database development, plug-ins to 3D applications, and general workflow tools within Maya or Houdini. Responsibilities and Duties
Design and develop software to address production demands.
Maintain existing workflows and tools.
Solve challenging production problems by creating new tools or modifying existing ones.

Required
Undergraduate / Graduate degree in Computing Science or related field.
3+ years experience of code development.

PIPELINE ATD

Method Studios is an international visual effects company, with recent credits including: Iron Man 3, Robocop, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. We are looking for talented, ambitious individuals to join out team as Assistant Technical Directors (ATD’s) and eventually proceed into full TD or development positions within the company.
* Work closely with production teams, artists, and supervisors to gather information.
* Diagnose technical issues and address them directly or escalate to the pipeline team.
* Debug problematic scenes in Maya, Houdini, Nuke, and other packages.
* Validate issues of artists and clearly express technical issues that come from artists in a way that is reproducible.
* Develop scripts to optimize various tasks for production.
* Monitor bug reports filed by production.
Job Requirements:
* Programming experience, preferably in Python, C++, MEL, Java.
* BS or Masters Degree, ideally in a technical field.
* Good interpersonal skills.
Bonus experience:
* Experience in our core applications: Maya, Houdini, Nuke.
* Experience with database programming, either relational or NoSQL.
* Familiarity with Unix operating systems.

SENIOR LOOK DEV. LIGHTER
Description
Method Studios Los Angeles is currently in search of a Senior Look Development Lighter to join the 3D animation team.
Candidate must have expert level experience working with V-ray and good knowledge of Maya and the use of V-ray within Maya.
Responsibilities and Duties
responsible in maintaining lighting pipeline and workflow as dictated by project
properly assess the appropriate balance of lighting and compositing for a given shot
properly economize renders while still achieving required quality
closely work with the artistic leads to ensure creative direction is achieved
Qualifications

SENIOR MATTE PAINTER
Description
Method Studios is currently in search of Senior Matte Painter who will be responsible for painting photoreal environments and landscapes.
This artist will paint photo environments, elements, and textures for matching into live action plates or standing as their own matte painting plates.
Candidate must also have a sound knowledge and understanding of visual effects pipelines, production and implementation, as well as the ability to work well in a team.
Responsibilities and Duties
creating digital paintings of photo realistic environments based on concept art and/or photo reference
painting photo environments, elements, and textures to match into live action plates or stand as their own matte painting plates
integrating matte paintings into 3D environments using Maya and/or Nuke
Qualifications
Expert working knowledge of Photoshop
A minimum of 4 years VFX industry experience working working as a digital matte painter in a feature film, TV, or commercials environment
Experience creating digital paintings of photo-realistic environments based on concept art and/or photo reference
Demonstrable experience integrating matte paintings into 3D environments using Maya and/or Nuke is beneficial
Possess a strong understanding of light, colour and perspective
Possess excellent artistic communication skills, as well as an excellent eye for detail
Flexibility to produce concept art from scratch is a plus
Solid knowledge and understanding of visual effects pipelines, production and implementation, as well as the ability to work well in a team
A good understanding of 2D and 3D workflows within a feature film environment
Knowledge of Vue software is a plus
Knowledge of Maya and Nuke software is a plus
CHARACTER PIPELINE TD

Description
Method Studios is currently in search of a Character Pipeline TD to join the Rigging team.
Responsibilities and Duties
Create and develop tools and pipeline scripts for the rigging department and any other department that interfaces with rigging.
Create and support tools for the rigging department. ie: deformer import / export, rigging toolset and framework, animation tools, UI, pipeline scripts..etc.
Help support, maintain, and improve the publishing system at the studio for assets and shots.
Work in partnership with R&D programmers, Animators, and Lighting TDs to ensure a stable, efficient, and flexible pipeline throughout the departments.
The role will also help provide some animation support throughout production.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years work experience in feature film/broadcast VFX production.
MEL and Python programming essential.
Solid knowledge of rigging systems and animation pipeline essential.
Comprehensive knowledge of Maya.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Good technical knowledge and understanding with a potential to learn and grow further.
Solid time and project management skills.
Accessibility and willingness to collaborate is a must!
Thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to character rigging and animation comprehension of core principles relating to rigging.
Good understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting to modeling to texturing, animation and rendering.
Must be willing to take direction well, a good team player, and good work ethics.
Strong Math skills and experience with the Maya API and developing plugins is a plus.
CG SUPERVISOR

Description
Method Studios is currently in search of a CG supervisor to join and lead its team of 3D artists.
The CG Supervisor will ensure the throughput of shots to completion via client approval, and maintain a functioning environment where the artist and client can focus on performance without technical hindrance.
Responsibilities and Duties
working in conjunction with the VFX Supervisor, Producer, and Production Manager to develop a strong and flexible CG and 2D pipeline
working with the Project Coordinator and Producer to facilitate the scheduling of artists and resources
working with the VFX Supervisors to provide artistic and technical notes to the team
developing, maintaining, and/or approving 3D techniques
providing team-building by developing structure
leading artists, while delegating roles and responsibilities
following CG elements from concept through to final comp, overseeing all elements created by the CG team
conducting industry research and development
designing, executing, and managing high-level CG for use in final compositing through a team, reporting progress to the VFX Supervisor
may also be called upon to work "on the box" as the lead artist as show size and needs require
