MPC is a world leading visual effects and animation facility based in Soho, central London. Our features division is seeking supervising and lead animators from either visual-effects or feature-animation backgrounds.


Compositor


Compositors are responsible for taking disparate elements (live action footage, CG, stock elements etc.) and combining them to create the final image.If you have a passion for compositing and can use Nuke then we want to hear from you, whether you've just graduated, are looking for new challenges or are used to leading teams of Compositors - all levels are welcome!

You would be an absolute superstar if you possessed the following skills:
  •  Previous experience in a VFX environment
  •  Previous experience working with Linux
  •  An understanding of the whole film pipeline
  •  An education or interest in real world lighting and photography



Lighting Artist


Lighting TDs are responsible for producing high-quality lighting and rendering for our CG scenes.If you have a passion for lighting and can use Maya and Renderman (ideally!) then we want to hear from you, whether you've just graduated, are looking for new challenges or are used to leading teams of Lighting TDs - all levels are welcome!

You would be an absolute superstar if you also possessed the following bonus skills:

  • - Previous experience with Linux
  • - Knowledge of Mel/Python scripting
  • - Previous experience in a VFX environment
  • - Previous experience performing Look Development tasks
  • - Experience of real-world lighting and photography





Matchmove TD


Matchmove TDs are responsible for reproducing the geometry, camera movement and object movement of a live action shot in a 3D environment. 
If you have a passion for matchmove and can use 3D Equalizer (ideally!) then we want to hear from you, whether you've just graduated, are looking for new challenges or are used to leading teams of Matchmove TDs - all levels are Welcome!
 
You would be an absolute superstar if you also possessed the following bonus skills:

Modelling TD


Modelling TDs are responsible for creating 3D models which artistically meet the brief but also technically meet the needs of other departments.If you have a passion for modelling and can use Maya then we want to hear from you, whether you've just graduated, are looking for new challenges or are used to leading teams of Modelling TDs - all levels are welcome!
 
You would be an absolute superstar if you also possessed the following bonus skills:

  • - Previous experience with Linux
  • - Knowledge of Mudbox and/or ZBrush
  • - Previous experience in a VFX environment
  • - Previous education or experience with fine art or design (sculpture, drawing, industrial design etc.)
  • - Previous experience working from 3D scans and/or 2D artwork


Pipeline Developer


We are seeking to appoint a Pipeline Developer to be responsible for the further improvement and maintenance of our software tools and technologies. This includes asset management, production management, third-party tool integration, and artist tools for workflow.

Core responsibilities for the role include:

  • Developing in-house software as part of a team

  • Technical and user documentation

  • Building relationships with key artists and production staff

  • Communication and collaboration with developers in other MPC sites

  • Identifying changing requirements and recommending solutions

  • Work with junior developers to help resolve issues and solve problems

  • Contribute to design and architecture of projects

  • Potentially some small scale project oversight

  • Applicants will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • At least 2+ years of experience in a VFX facility (or equivalent industry)

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a Technical Animation Degree

  • Experience with Linux (or other Unix) operating system

  • Advanced experienced with some the following languages: Python, C++ (desired), SQL

  • Experience on both development & troubleshooting

  • Hands on experience on development or support of any of vfx or animation production

  • Experience with the following tools: Maya, Nuke

  • Proven team player with good organization and communication skills



Production Coordinator



Our Production team are responsible for managing the artists, schedules and client expectations of all of our film VFX work.

Roto Animator


Roto Animators are responsible for delivering high quality character and object roto-animation.

You would be an absolute superstar if you also possessed the following bonus skills:

Roto Prep Artist (Contract)


  • Minimum 6 months production experience in Silhouette,
  • Nuke experience would be an added advantage.
  • good written and verbal communication

Technical Animator / Cloth TD

Requirements:

Team selection will be based on an initial round of phone interviews, and a secondary round of skills testing in Maya and face to face interviews.

  • In depth knowledge of Maya
  • Knowledge of ncloth, other third party software such as Syflex or Marvelous are a bonus.
  • Recognised experience in feature film production.
  • Good communication skills 
  • Experience working directly with supervisors and clients is a plus.
  • Python and MEL scripting experience an advantage.
  • Previous team leading/ training skills are a bonus.

Responsible for:

  • Cloth and Fur Dynamic simulations for a variety of assets.
  • Shot specific Character Finishing, custom mesh fixes, fur dynamics, and cloth adjustments.
  • Feature tracking.
  • Responsible for efficiently demonstrating your progression of work to meet the creative brief.  
  • To contribute towards team training and development.
  • To organize their time, collaborate, and effectively communicate with their supervisors and team members.
  • Creating realistic/ naturalistic results.
  • Working with modellers to create a model that meets technical needs.
  • Keep CG Supervisor and/ or leads informed of progress chances and critical issues.
  • Setting up /editing or maintaining cloth/ fur dynamics rigs.


Texturing TD


Texturing TDs are responsible for painting photo-real textures and relevant maps for other surface effects to be mapped to 3D objects.
 
If you have a passion for texturing and can use Maya, Photoshop and Bodypaint then we want to hear from you, 

whether you've just graduated, are looking for new challenges or are used to leading teams of Texturing TDs - all levels are welcome!
 
You would be an absolute superstar if you also possessed the following bonus skills:
  • - Previous experience with Linux
  • - Previous experience with Mari
  • - Knowledge of Mudbox and/or ZBrush
  • - Previous experience in a VFX environment
  • - Previous education or experience in traditional arts
  • - Previous experience working with scanned reference, photos or other artwork to create textures

Animator


Core Responsibilities:

  • An Animator must be a solid and well rounded animator that has had experience previous professional 

  • production environments. They would be responsible for delivering high quality character/creature animation 

  • for feature films. They would be working closely alongside Animation Leads/Supervisors to create believable 

  • realistic animation with convincing performances and physicality. Successful applicants should have the 

  • ability to work well as part of a team and be capable of delivering work to meet deadlines.

 

Experience and Skills required:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within feature films.
  • The candidate must thrive in a team environment and enjoy working with other artists.
  • They must be able to take direction well and willing to take notes.
  • Able to deliver results to a high standard with the aid and direction of the Animation Leads/Supervisors.
  • An understanding of the computer graphics production process and other departments/disciplines needs and 

requirements.

  • Aware of project schedules and capable of delivering work to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of 3D animation toolsets (preferably Maya).
  • An understanding of animation principles and work methods.
  • Animation/drawing/sculpting skills a plus.
  • Good communication skills both technically and creatively.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to be adaptable and accepting of changes in a production schedule.
  •  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with Animation Supervisors and the animation team to create convincing performances and motion.
  • To be able to follow direction and take ownership of your tasks.
  • To be able to confidently flag when there are issues and lack of clarity of your tasks informing relevant 

  • supervisors and production managers.
  • Do their best to stay positive and accept direction changes in an intense production environment.
  • To be conscious of character continuity when working with other animators on the same character.
  • To be competent in problem solving and using initiative when necessary.
  • To create animation for a variety of film projects. Styles range from naturalistic animals or creatures, to more stylized/cartoony characters that act and talk.
  • To bring a creative and proactive attitude to the task of animating performances.
  • To organize their time, collaborate, and effectively communicate with their supervisors and team mates.
