CLOTH TD


Responsibilities:



The senior Cloth TD must have a demo reel that demonstrates creation of dynamic cloth simulations and other realistic effects using nCloth/ syflex. Excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, team player, and the ability to take direction are essential. The senior Cloth TD reports to the CG/VFX Supervisor.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Produce photorealistic simulations with high resolution geometry
* Develop innovative, believable and beautiful solutions to challenging and complex problems
* Sets up rigFX for cloth simulations that is stable and versatile for a characters range of                motion.
* Works in partnership with lighters & compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very             highest standard
* Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets on time and at a high level of quality
* Troubleshoot and solve problems independently.
* Liaise with the asset department at build phase, to achieve desired results for fur and cloth          simulations.
* Writing tutorials to document new techniques
* Work with programming and tools teams to develop tools/ scripts/ plug-ins to streamline the        department
* Work to high aesthetic level being able self critique
* The initiative to see anticipate future problems and develop solutions or tools accordingly
* Teach others in the team

EXPERIENCE

* 5 years experience in film or animation production as an TD
* 2 of the above years experience using Maya nCloth/Syflex for a variety of effects (including          cloth simulation, gore effects, muscle 

simulation)
* Mel scripting is a minimum requirement, python scripting preferred
* Artists must be able to take direction and work in a team focused environment, good communication skills are a must
* Solid work ethic and a positive attitude in the face of challenging situations
* FX Animation Experience
* Familiar with pipeline issues
* Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
* Good understanding of linux / unix based operating systems 
* A reel demonstrating outstanding visual and technical ability
* Strong problem solving skills
* Knowledge of C++ would be a bonus
* Previous rigging experience

MATTE PAINTER

Required Skills and Experience:

*  Minimum 5 year experience in feature Film

* Extensive experience using Photoshop, Nuke and Maya, with a clear understanding of 2.5          Projection techniques 

* Must understand and be able to effectively communicate and interact with other departments      in the pipeline.

* Ideal candidate must be able to multitask, be self motivated,and proactive,  handling several      aspects of developing and working on a environment and sequence level. 

*  Must be able to work with Supervisors to effectively break  down the sequences and work out     best methods to complete all work in a timely manner.

*  Attention to detail is crucial, continually striving to raise the quality of their work to the highest      level.

* Open and responsive to guidance and the review of notes from creative and technical                  leadership while applying that information to achieve the required look

* Additional Skills - Mari, Modelling, Composting 



PAINT/ROTO ARTIST

Requirements: 

At least 2+ year on Painting and Roto (the major focus is on high level Painting skills, the Roto job tasks will be very minimal)

· Nuke software experience required

· 2D Camera tracking

· Compositing mattes to check paint/prep work

· Painting and prep skills in various software packages

· Working knowledge of projecting for paint/prep tasks

· A strong eye for detail and precision.

· Ability to organize your time, collaborate and effectively communicate with your supervisors and team mates, and be able to take direction.

· Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to deliver on schedule while working under pressure if required.

ROTO-ANIMATOR

A Roto Animation Artist is responsible for delivering high quality character and object roto-animation for feature films. They would be working closely alongside Matchmove Artists and Animators to create animation that matches the movement of the selected character / object on the film backplates and that also moves realistically in 3D space. Successful applicants should have the ability to work well as part of a team and be capable of delivering work to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

* To roto-animate a variety of characters and / or objects that match the film backplates for various film projects and maintain consistent shot quality

* To work closely with Roto Animation Supervisors / Leads to create convincing performances and motion of characters and objects in both screen and 3D space within the animation package for the addition of CG effects.

* To be able to follow direction and take ownership of your tasks.

* To be able to confidently flag when there are issues and lack of clarity of your tasks informing relevant supervisors and production managers.

* Do their best to stay positive and accept direction changes in an intense production environment.

* To be conscious of continuity between scenes when working with other Roto Animation Artists on the same character / rig.

* To organize their time, collaborate, and effectively communicate with their supervisors and team mates.

Experience and Skills required

* Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within feature films.

* The candidate must thrive in a team environment and enjoy working with other artists.

* Candidates should demonstrate a good eye for detail and precision with strong problem-solving skills 

* Able to deliver results to a high standard with the aid and direction of the Roto Animation Leads / Supervisors.

* Ability to be adaptable and accepting of changes in a production schedule.

* An understanding of the computer graphics production process and other departments/disciplines needs and requirements.

* Aware of project schedules and capable of delivering work to deadlines.

* Knowledge of 3D animation toolsets (Working knowledge of Maya required).

* An understanding of animation principles and work methods.

* Good communication skills both technically and creatively.

* Animation/drawing/sculpting skills a plus.

  


SR COMPOSITOR

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Establishes certain looks or solves particular design or effects challenges for key visual  effects shots

Collaborate with other compositors to share knowledge and techniques

Solves technical challenges and recognizes areas for improvement with other compositors work


Education, Experience, and Skills Required


Minimum 4+ years live action visual effects compositing experience

Experience with Nuke software only

Should possess a keen eye for color and color matching

Should have strong aptitude for technical workflow challenges such as directory structure, file formats, naming conventions, scripts, automation tools, automated dailies, etc.

Should have strong knowledge of compositing workflow and the compositing application interface

Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask

Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Ability to execute a broad range of VFX tasks including look development, lighting objects, modeling, texturing, animation and rendering

Proficient in 3dsMax

Must be able to work under the guidance of a CG Supervisor or VFX Supervisor to achieve desired level of aesthetic quality and technical accuracy

Proven development skills

Strong sense of compositions, light and color

Develop and produce realistic representations of FX design, i.e. smoke, fire, water, particles, using computer-assisted design (3dsMax) software for feature films or commercials

May adapt existing images or plates

Prepare graphic elements of subjects to be rendered using multimedia software, imagine processing, layout and design software


Education, Experience and Skills Required:


At least 4 years live action visual effects experience

Experience training in multimedia design with an emphasis on Visual Effects

Basic understanding of Max Scripting

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

SR LAYOUT ARTIST

Requirements:

Great visual storytelling skills & a well grounded understanding the language of the camera framing, perspective, lenses, coverage, continuity, camera movement, blocking.

Minimum of 3-5+ years VFX Layout experience required

Experience with layout is preferred

Solid animation grounding (preferably CG feature film animation - FX or Character)

Solid camera animation work (laying out shots, staging, using film cameras or on-set experience)

A good attitude and ability to smoothly change and adapt with the project

Background or experience in fine art which shows a thorough understanding of physical motion, weight, balance

Knowledge of human and animal anatomy as well as life drawing skills desirable

Ability to debug technical problems and follow up for assistance if required


 

SR RIGGER - VANCOUVER

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

Applicant must have 5+ years of film rigging experience using Maya

Strong python/mel coding abilities

Experience in modular pipeline development

Experience in working within a team

Excellent communication skills

Ability to understand, work with and extend existing toolsets, APIs

Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner.

Additional Skills That are a Plus:

C++ experience

Maya API experience

Experience as a team lead

3dsmax experience

Computer Science degree



SR VFX EDITOR

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The SENIOR VFX Editor incorporates all required versions from pre-vizilation through to final composites of visual effects shots into the current cuts of live action sequences. Also has the ability to create a functioning environment where the Visual Effects Supervisor\leads, and artist can evaluate any version of any shot in the current sequences for aesthetic and technical direction.   

Requirements and Desired skills:

- Maintain sequence(s) edit and inserting visual effect shots into the editing timeline

- Ensure the production database (using Shotgun) is maintained with shot counts and lineup

- Ensure that shots cut into the sequence are correct in terms of counts and lineup

- Preparing sequence edits for client approval when required 

- Organize and run the dailies session

- Aiding in any pipeline/development issues that surround outsource

- At least 2+ years experience working in a VFX Editorial Department

- Demonstrate proficiency in editing using Avid or Final Cut Pro (Avid preferred)

- A firm understanding of the VFX process, workflow and terminology

- Possess an understanding of film and HD video formats, files, frame rates,  and resolutions

- File encoding/transcoding experience, exhibiting a sound understanding of video codecs and file formats

- Have basic Photoshop skills

- Compressor

- DVD Studio Pro or Encore

- 2k Playback software such as Framecycler or RV

 • Provide Pipeline Management and Support 

• Create proposal for migrating from Windows Pipeline to Linux based pipeline 

• Managed local and global pipeline tickets 

• Design Project Management 

• Manage and provide user support for Shotgun Systems and Time Management Systems 

• Managed Software Licenses 

***Additional experience working with Rigging Department is a huge plus.
