Assistant Lead Motion Capture Animator
Main purpose of job
Eurocom is looking for an experienced Assistant Lead Motion Capture Animator to work in our purpose built motion capture studio.General duties and responsibilities
Our motion capture studio was built in 2006 to provide first class motion capture for Eurocom’s many prestigious developments. Constructed to high standards, the studio floor is 20x20m with a clear height of 7m, it provides high-quality motion capture service to internal and external studios. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading game developers and one of the most dynamic motion capture studios in Europe.This is a permanent position which will require the Motion Capture Animator to:
1. Prepare for motion capture sessions by helping with initial camera set up and calibration, putting markers on performers.
2. Run mocap sessions by recording takes and monitoring the quality of the resulting data.
3. Process motion capture data using Vicon IQ and Blade.
4. Retarget cleaned motion using Motionbuilder and exporting to Maya/Max.
5. Prepare characters to work with mocap data in Motionbuilder and Maya.
6. Set up all the files necessary for post-production then test and document the workflow for each session.
7. Create and assign processing tasks to the mocap team and track their progress in Hansoft (project management software).
8. Check the quality of files produced by the mo cap team then create and manage bugs as necessary.
9. Coach the team or individual members to improve their work flow in IQ/Blade/Motionbuilder/Maya.
10. Communication with the animation teams (managing priorities, communicating delivery dates and dealing with any technical problems).
11. Work with facial and customized motion capture sessions like finger, clothes, etc.
12. Create or invent new processes and/or techniques to continuously improve our motion capture processing.
13. To carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required.
Skills
1. Highly proficient with Vicon IQ software, Motionbuilder and Maya.2. Ability to design pipelines and tools for motion capture development.
3. Good analytical problem solving skills.
4. Patience and attention to detail.
5. Character animation skills would be desirable but not essential.
Experience
1. Proven experience working in the motion capture industry.2. Proven experience working with Vicon IQ software, Motionbuilder and Maya.
3. Experience within the games and/or film industry desirable.
